Finlandia 2017 – exhibition concept includes an exhibition called the Remarkable Adventure targeted to children and families.
The exhibition inspires stamp collecting by making and participating. It evokes interest in stamps and familiarizes sending mail. Functional exhibition is addressed to children aged from 5 to 12.
The remarkable adventure seizes the variety of the images in Finnish stamps, such as animals, vehicles, sports and comics. The program includes among other things a kinetic stamp game, called Catch a stamp, specially designed for the exhibition, where a player controls the game with body motions.
The exhibition includes a skill track, where different philatelic skills can be practiced. In the different stops of the track the player can for example design and make a collection sheet, recognize the publishing country of stamps, loosing the stamps in a correct way from postcards and letters and finding different errors.
The exhibition also shows the stamp designs made by children for the post in the children’s television show Pikku Kakkonen (”the little two”). One of the designs is published during the exhibition as a personalized stamp.
Every child visiting the exhibition will get a small amount of stamps and other philatelic material to go.
Exhibition is produced by the Finnish Postal Museum. Exhibition planning and graphic design is made by Sanna-Mari Pirkola.
The remarkable adventure –exhibition will move from Tampere Hall to the Postal Museum in Museum center Vapriikki from 9th June to 29th October 2017.
